16.12.2006

after breakfast, the group of us took a cab to Chatuchak! took lots of crappy photos~ woohoo. and we even met a driver who don't wasnt sure of the way! isnt chatuchak suppose to be a tourist destination?

spotted: HOT PINK CAB! sexy. the girls then crapped about bringing the hot pink cab to singapore.. with sexy girls as drivers! haha. cool idea?

anyway... chatuchak is huggggeeee. its impossible to comb every shop. in fact, i think we barely walked 25% of the whole of chatuchak in 2-3 hrs. got alot of nicey tees! now i regret la. should have buy more. grr. and i think they should have a lot of bags.. which we barely touched! regret regret! i want a bag!!

after chatutak we took a bus to platinum fashion mall. aka the wholesale mall. the store people always quote retail + wholesale px. anyway.. we took a bus. and yeah! another culture shock. its a rather dilapitated bus, no air-con. barely seats.

speed all you want - we take pics for all we can! smile :)

and the bus driver just speed like crazy. and their bus stops seem like everywhere and anywhere. they stop and you have to alight FAST. the exit doors are permanently open and so.. u just alight/board quickly! i had this dangerous alighting experience la. which is like.. never will it happen in singapore. anyway, so u might be thinking, how do you pay for the ride?

sorry hor there's no such thing as "ez-link card". neither are there auto ticket thingy in the old sbs bus. so we have the permanent bus conductor. i tell you, she is damn power k! as ive said the bus speeds like crazy and its a feat to balance while standing. and she did! plus she can NONCHALANTLY walk to and fro the bus, PLUS PLUS one hand holding the coin cylinder thingy. amazing but true! i really wonder how she manage to balance walking while collecting money into the cylinder which has a big opening? won't she drop coins? power!

platinum fashion mall is THE mall that tires me out. it is huge. i shopped till my legs almost gave way ok. and we spent the day there.. BUT we never manage to finish combing the whole mall. yeah. that big. its like.. you feel satisfied clearing one lane. but to your horror, there's another FIVE lanes to go in section A of the level. there's section B, and that's another 6 lanes or so for the same level. TIRING ok!

luckily we stopped by a manicure shop and obviously did manicure. its printed. the turnout wasnt as good as i thought it could be. rather disappointed.

after the tiring shopping, we stopped by the food court. its more advanced than singapore. they have started the cashless dining system. so you buy food with card. macham cashcard. lol.. i was having some difficulty communicating the food we are going to order. nonetheless.. done! :) then we dragged our feet back to the hotel..

but that's not the end to the itinery!

after a quick shower we left for thai massage! my first experience.. being swung.. uh. tt's abit exaggerated. haha. anyway it really relieved my tired soles. problem came with the tipping system. its general courtesy to tip. but some of the masseurs(how u spell it) demanded for more tips! which is yikes. i think because i tipped too much and created some trouble for the other girls. sigh.

17.12.2006

finally we realise that's not much time left and our shopping list is still as long as ever. so we went MBK by foot. we stopped by lots of places in the midst of the trail. souvenir shop.. local food stores.. siam paragon.. discovery ctr.. even the famous temple in Bangkok! took loads of pics! their decor is so much more interesting than the cliche themes we have in singapore. much more creative. which im sooo jealous of!

outside amari watergate. me acting poised. obviously im not. gah. failed attempt! cross!!

the "Tharlie's Angels."

the girls!! glam glam! :)

L and meeeee! *muackz*

acting very tourist at siam paragon.

me with swan. =D

this pic is classic! no need to elaborate further =)

discovery centre.. i love this whimsically designed christmas tree!

look! their escalators are 10X more chic than ours!

MBK.. another exciting round of adventure. we first stopped at MK restaurant for a steamboat feast. we were practically forcing the last few pieces of steamboat stuff into our throats. and then we realise we dont have much time to lose. so we became more focused in our shopping.

so me and poh were combing the shops for birkies. after a longggg while we finally found birkies! haha.. and we met this super cute shop assistant too! his words are all sugar coated la. lol. but besides that we were already quite into the birkies designs they have. i even asked him to take pics with us! cool cool? lol..

** but i don't think im posting it here.. since it wasnt allowed to take pics in the mall in the first place. ask me personally.**

just a sidetrack, many cab drivers thought we are japanese! lol.. nihongo. haha..
anyway! mbk is much smaller. we at least combed the place twice! but we couldnt find nicey bags. grr. we then move on to another plaza which is linked to mbk. that place is much more exciting. many acrylic manicure stores + white/black uniform stores (which i duno why).. but there are stuff like watches.. accessories.. clothes.. which are much more young/street style = suits me! lol.

then another small adventure: ting wanted to buy polo tee for her cousin. but she wasnt sure if it'd fit. so she asked me in chinese, " eh do you think that guy can fit into the polo tee ar?" apparently there was this guy at the shop too.

then i went to ask..
me: "hi, can you help us try this top?"
the cute guy no. 2: "uh.. ke neng chuan bu xia.." (CHINESE!! SUPER ACCURATE CHINESE!)
ting n me were like sooo diu lian can.
anyway he tried the top.. as in wear over his current tee on the spot. indeed it was a tad tight fitting. we got curious.

me: "uh.. so are you a Chinese or a Thai?" (i also don't know why i still spoke ENGLISH. gah.)
he (continue to speak in Chinese).. explaining he's from Hong Kong.. (so he flaunt a bit of his Canto too.. haha!) but he lived in Bangkok for 10 over years. lol. we were so amazed! haha.

time is running short.. so we went back to mbk to meet the rest, who were waiting for us for a long time already! oops. there, we bought more local goodies! yum! free flow of drinks + sampling + discount prices! all thanks to uncle! uncle is really fantastic ok.. his thai network of friends is so great!

we brought back boxes + bags = loot to the hotel. left again to chinatown for sharks fin! woohoo. again, amazingly low price. :)

before shark's fin feast

back to the hotel, we went to nua in jer's room.. took pics.. slacked.. till 2-3 in the morning. when the next day we have to wake up real early to the airport! sob sob. so fast huh? =/

18.12.2006
left for singapore! time to totally CONCUSS on the plane. super tired k.

i love this pic!! so mtv-ish. haha.

zZz..

special thanks

to Uncle.. for bringing us around.. helping us slash prices with his amazingly fluent Thai.

to Huiting, the organiser, for this wonderful trip. thanks for all the paper/admin work u've done up to make this trip ever possible.

to Jun Kee, poh's dar, for being the big brother and make sure no lost sheep among us, be the one to ask the driver "got meter?".. tolerating our camera flashes whenever we are in the cab.. for us stealing some (or most of the) time with poh!

to my hotel roomie, Bee.. thanks for taking care of me! haha.. i know my cough/cold were unbearable.. lol.

to my shopping kakis.. thanks for being there!

:)

my adventurous thailand trip! woohoo!! :) after much procrastination (why do i procrastinate like crazy..) the thailand trip entry is finally up! enjoy~

15.12.2006

:: at the singapore airport ::
the group tour was quite big. excluding jer who took the comfy SIA flight, the group of us consists of poh, junkee, ting, bee, me.. and puay yee + co.. which we hardly talked. anyway.. the check in was quite ok.. just that because we took AirAsia, aka budget airline.. so the paper work and all took so much longer. and guess what, we even have to wait for the plane to arrive! gahhhh... seems like an overworked "SBS Transit bus".. non stop flight. the singaporean spirit was fast revealed as the passengers all crowding (you hardly see a queue.. more like commotion) at the front. so the lagging us lag behind.

:: on the budget plane ::
absolutely budget. the plane has 2 rows, each 3 seaters. and its free seating. so like the bus, you just take whatever seat u see. and of cuz, the later u cant get the window seat.. too bad! so just stretch ur neck longer and peer across for the window view. and since its budget, there's no free meal. and the stuff u can buy on board the plane are: instant noodles, sandwich, snacks, drinks. not forgetting collectibles.. anyway.. so 2 hrs plus on the plane. most of the time i was zonked out. so.. 2 hrs+ later..

:: thailand airport ::
the airport is sooo huge! gosh. the plane "parking" area is not link to the main passenger terminal. so once u alight from the plane, you have to take a 10min+ bus ride to the terminal! after getting our luggages, we walked around like lost tourists. lol. it's kinda chaotic. there are alot of people trying to coax you to take their taxi ride. we were kinda pestered by this particular woman who insisted that her taxi fare is good.. reasonable.. yada yada. but we simply ignored her and walked to the official taxi stand.

XXX

by the time it was our turn, the day was like ending. dark liao. okok.. on the cab.

:: taxi ride ::
goodness the ride was sooo long ok! kena caught in jam. and here i first witness the indiscriminate "cut lane" act. which will never happen in singapore, unless u want to deduct a straight 24 points (according to jun kee). nonetheless we reached our hotel, "First House Bangkok", with the damn ex taxi price of 400 baht. we realised later the other paid 200-300+ baht for the ride. gahh.

taking pics in the cab. wonder if the driver was annoyed by the incessant flashlight! lol.

:: first house bangkok ::
we were checking in at the reception.. and aha. we have a confused manager trying to record who's here, who's not.. who's sharing room with who etc. confusion aside, we managed to check in and woo. hunger pangs. time to hunt for food!

XXX

the group of us walked out to the nearest shopping mall.. erm. should be platinum fashion mall. but heck! their foodcourt closes at 4pm! we were there at ard 8-9pm? and no food! shops close! arhh! along the way we saw SWENSENS.. and we thought we can sit there and have nice food. but heck, swensens in thailand is solely an ICE-CREAM PARLOUR!! gah. so puay yee and gang even went to ask the police (?) the way to the nearest eatery. off we walked to the Isetan place.

wah. we see another side of thai. the more happening side. i think there was a football match or smth like that, 2 beer companies, heineken and singha (?) set up a beer place (heineken calls it the "Green Space".. which is quite cool! singha (?) on the other hand had a yellow theme for the beer-out place) to get high and have fun. u see people chilling out, jamming.. woah. when will this happen in Singapore?

:: the isetan place ::
macham takashimaya. the eateries, ironically, are mostly jap food. after much pondering.. we ate at Yum Saap. the more thai-ish place. ordered a meal, sides, drinks.. for ard 3-4 SGD? cheap la! good deal. lol. the funnier part was the communicating to waiter part. lol.. after the meal, jer and family came and meet us. so we are ready for more shopping! weeee! :)

huiting and me at the yum saap place. she looks like tour guide right?! =D

XXX

heading for suan lum night market!

uncle (jer's dad) suggested we take the bus. we waited for a while then decided to take a tuk-tuk instead. the girls and cs (jer's jr) squeezed into a tuk-tuk.. and it is sooo FUNNNNN!! love it k! it SPEEEEDDDDDS alllll the way! poh and i were so high we were screaming allll the way! haha. even the girls got fed up with us. haha. but i like i like! they wont know who we are anyway wat! haha. so fuunNNN! :D thrilling ride! and before we knew it, suan lum!

the post syndromes of screaming-too-much: flushed face + adrenaline rush! :)

:: suan lum night market ::
shopped.. walked.. thirsty. didnt buy much cuz they say they will push up price.. we can easily get items at a cheaper price elsewhere.. but quite fun la. so when we are trying to get a cab that runs by meter.. guess who we met..

DESMOND GOH!

people! recall a prev entry i wrote. yes, the shuai, brainy chem relief teacher in j1! he's here! woohoo! i think he looks quite ok.. but the rest thot he kinda not that fantastic liao. i just thot his hair was abit.. out of place. nonetheless.. so exciting! haha.

the girls at suan lum! background is some water fountain thing.

XXX

we head back to the hotel.. but we have to finish crabs that jer's parents bought for us. which is already around 2-3am.. haha. jer lost in the game.. so we went to her room to feast on the crabs.
then.. we are all tired and lights out!

p.s. the room is soooo freaking cold that im freezing to the max! brrrr..

merrrryyyy christmassss :)

our dearest queen bee organised class gathering! for xmas eve. absolutely amazing!! haha.. so we went vivocity. its my first time there too.. after all the hype, i finally get to see the big big shopping mall myself.

vivocity is huge but the merchandises are.. not really my cup of tea. but they have many unique eateries.. which is equally cool.

the group of us went asian kitchen for dinner. and we met zongxiang! he changed alot eh.. so anyway we ate there.. and the food is. gah. not nice seriously. i ate some spicy n sour la mian.. but it tastes neither. only felt the chili oil... grr. unsatisfying totally. tried the clear soup base for rainbow's la mian.. which is salty n msg-ladened. omg! perhaps the nicer food was the tofu and the dumplings. sigh.

the group of us, and check out mr z's supermodel pose. ha. (excluding kjt, bryane) ---courtesy of poh

we went pageone.. which is a big classy bookstore.. macham taka kinokuniya. and im amazed at how kjt buys magazines.. books.. woah. clearly shows that he is a metrosexual wannabe. lol. books dont excite me that much. unless its a good book. BUT, a good DEAL attracts me. aha! daiso. ALWAYS $2. exciting eh! haha.. and i bought a white storage box for the little little stuffs. 2 bucks! woohoo! :)

then we walked to st james power station. feels like a nice chill-out place. but too bad the guys are underage! lol.. next time perhaps.

the power station without power.. so dim! gah. -- courtesy of poh

hweelee rainbow and mr z left earlier.. left poh, kjt, bryane, bee n me. the group wanted to club at clarke, but i wasnt too enthu because i dont like the crowd. especially during such big occasions. super huge crowd la! so we chilled at one of the cafes in vivocity instead -- THE WHITE DOG cafe.

me and poh. shouldnt this be a spotted dog cafe? whatever. -- courtesy to kjt

i really wonder why on earth is the cafe named as WHITE DOG. there's no dogs. no dog decor, nothing. even the menu is more like a spotted dalmatian than a white dog. such a puzzling name.. but i like the ambience. and the food! haha yes we ate again.

i ordered warm chocolate cake. its sooo nice! the chocolate wasnt too sweet. just to my liking.. :)
the others ordered specialty drinks.. triple mushroom soup..

the warm chocolate cake. for chocoholics. -- courtesy of kjt

we ordered pizza n wedges to share :) yum.

FEAST! round 2. -- thanks kjt.

THEN. kjt was super fascinated by the plate of black pasta served to the neighbouring table. and he ordered! it came and wow. it.looks.BLACK. why? because its made of the black inky substance from the squid! its not that the food wasnt nice. its great. just that. the aftermath is rather... inky.

kjt made the first move and ate the pasta. omg! since then his mouth n teeth look BLACK! like decayed/ very-long-never-brush-teeth-state. yikes!

**kjt's unglam picture is censored.**

trying to maintain image. lol. -- thanks to kjt.

so everybody is suppose to challenge the pasta and eat it without looking unglam! haha.. tell you its really hilarious! we took videos/photos of kjt looking unglam! we must have made a scene at the cafe i tell you.

we left the cafe and went to the outdoor area and took christmas photos with the xmas decor! fun fun!!

trying to destroy christmas tree -- kjt it's your cam again!

i like the pic! =D thanks poh!

:) it just feels so great to keep in touch. to feel like one big family, even after so long. i love my jc classmates!! :D totally glamourous!

rAnDoM.

today is a freaking tiring day. but well i guess this feeling is cumulative. isnt this suppose to be a holiday? and here i am, schedule packed. gah. hope the thailand trip is one i can really chill and relax for at least the moment.

pix time!

so the time when im not keying any sales order, im doodling.. and here's yet another of my masterpiece! lol.

i cant get enough of ah jia!! looks like ah jia from fruits basket right! say yes!! =D

10th dec was my cousin's baby 1st mth advanced celebration. her bday falls on.. 13th nov! like me! haha. my mum saw the baby earlier the month and commented the princess is pretty.

me: "so is she as pretty as me?"
mum:"..."
i asked my dad the same qn.
dad: "shujuan, you were so cute when you were younger.."
me: "... so you mean im not pretty now?!"
dad: "just.. normal lor. you just need to revamp a bit.. put on make up.. yada yada."
me: "..."

wah lau. my dad duno how to lie and humour me! ok.. that's besides the point. anyway, celestine the princess is really pretty. caught her sleeping soundly.. showered with all the love from her parents. arh. she is cute. i admit defeat. :)

sidetrack..

talking about birthday.. well, i'd like to thank my uni buds for celebrating my (and siti's) belated birthday. :) really happy. had a whale of the time playing pool and bowling~ thanks so much! *muacks!!* and not forgetting the presents.. right, shujuan will master how to use the eyeliner. somehow.. lol.

and. forgot to talk about a peculiar (?) incident (?! i cant find the right words!) on my birthday itself. just about 5 mins before my birthday ended (meaning, 1155pm) i received a call. and here goes:

X: "im not late right? happy birthday.."
me: "haha, yup you're not late. thanks!"
X: "see, i told you im able to find out when's your birthday.."
me: "right.."
X: "ok, i shall sing u a birthday song. happy birthday to you X2 happy birthday to shujuan happy birthday to you" (in a very fast pace though)
me: "thanks.." (already duno how to react)
---- in the midst, i kinda forgot the conversation (if it was 2 way in the first place).. along the lines of how i spent the day i think.. ---
next was i want to hurriedly (?) end the call.. so
me: "thanks, erm.. bye.."
X: "huh so fast arh? uh.. good night"

i think back and i thought i must have sound kinda unappreciative. but i was erm, happy. well at least this is the first time people sing bday song to me over the phone. but perhaps it's through the phone, and i duno how to hold long conversations. and so.. yup. but anyway! the point is this is the first time and felt quite funny. and so i blogged it. end of story.

backtrack..

it's been quite a while since i last blogged. so i shall just post you some recent updates:

1. i worked at noel the day after my final paper. shawn is still as lame! but he is a nice supervisor, everything also ok. :) the thing is im working with mostly 16-year olds. which made me feel so old. gah. on my first day of work at noel, was waiting for shawn in the meeting room. a guy was waiting in the room too. so u cant be keeping quiet right? so we had a small talk..

then i asked him, "how old are you arh?"
he said: "16"
me: "..." (age is such a sensitive issue)

next time i shant probe about age. never.

2. i cut my hair at shunji matsuo with pohhh! and and and! not the old kinda hairstyle that u dun even know i cut my hair ok. i have SHORT fringe now. well i took some time to get use to the fringe. cant blame me right.. i had long fringe for years already! the hairstylist just snipped it away in seconds. woohoo. i shant post pic. let u imagine.. lol.

3. im going bangkok soon! i mean.. this fri! woohoo! dun miss me too much k~ :) anyway i feel so unprepared. like i clean forgot the fact that i need to visit the MONEY CHANGER until jeraldine reminded me. i just know im going to SHOP till i DROP. ha. and where's my luggage? what to bring along? somehow i have a feeling im going to keep procrastinating until the last minute. grrr.

this is abit late.. typed before/after 13th november.. enjoy.

this year seems a little different.

1.. 2.. 10.. 14.. 16.. 18.. 19.. i am turning 20. arh. finally (?), my turn to gape in horror and scream, "i am twenteeeee..!"

doesnt feel quite right to be suddenly more adult. seems like my cognitive level is always stuck at 18/19. gah.

being 19, you enjoy privileges. you have less financial responsibilities.
being 20, you begin to worry about the future. you want to depend less on your parents. money, money and more money.

being 19, you don't have to worry about breakouts, dark eye-rings, whatnot. they will heal anyway. and u nv really bother.
being 20, you begin to worry about your face. damn those zits, those eye-bags, those dark circles.. ha. at this point of time, i recall those promoters kinda "threatening" voice.. "when you turn 20, your face starts to show the signs of ageing.. so must start to take care.. the sunlight.. spf.." yada yada.

being 20 is frightening. i've never really prepare myself for these. especially when im one step nearer to stepping into the workforce. my future seems so near, yet so far..

this is it girl. you are going to enter a new stage of life.. good luck! :) .. and now its time for me to think of 3 wishes for my birthday.. *thinking hard*

note: i really wish to wish myself, "happy 19th birthday".. but. ha.. face it now or later.. so.. happy 20th birthday, shujuan. :) BUT! im still 19, at heart.

XXX

today is the day! haha.. received alot of smses from my dearest friends.. despite the mugging season, despite being stuck in tekong. haha.. feeling so thankful and blessed :)

spend a part of today mugging at singpost. bee weiee jer.. been quite a while since i have such big mugging session.. those days.. arh. think i've aged again! gah.

me and weiee.. pretty! ^_^

then went home for a feast! woohoo. steamboat! :) utterly bloated.

then then.. my birthday cake! fruity orangy cake.

my 20th time hearing my birthday song.. haha. and i made 3 wishes: 1. to do well for the exams (a privilege for me since my bday always fall in the exam period) 2. health & happiness for all i care for 3. (not supposed to be said right.. so oops) cut the complicated cake and enjoyed it loads.. albeit full.

special thanks to my dearest family for putting in loads of effort to make me a happy girl! love youuuu!! <3

arhhh.. my brain is malfunctioning! gosh.. its already the last week of school term and i forgot the timing for my classes. thought the class starts at 9.30am. opened the door and the sea of strangers almost gaped at me. !!! gosh checked the timetable and gah, it's a 10.30 class. and it took me a while to realise.. it was soo embarrassing! >_<

kinda cleared the projects/assignments/.. whatnot. today one more test to go and i'm free!! ya right. it's the season of mugging again. the time where the mugger virus spreads.. but not like wildfire. haha.. since im not that muggish yet. i wonder what can push me to open my eyes and study! erm.. i wonder.

attended an interesting module this sem. about professional imaging. cool alright. really pin-point the nitty gritty, that differentiates you from a.. less imaged person. now when im in the train, i cant help but peep at the office people's dressing.. and laugh to my self stealthily, "ha, never go through professional imaging class!" and that's the very reason why they are taking train and don't drive (if u realise my hidden meaning..).

sometimes i really wonder why some people dress up like.. a clown to work. hilarious.

sidetrack..

my thailand trip is finalised! haha.. kudos to huiting! :) but seriously i dun feel the hype right now. perhaps it's still early or something. but been talking this trip since last year? 1 year already. guess the excitement just died off. and it's going to be such a big group of people (? until now i still duno the exact number.. more than 8 i suppose) really wonder how it's going to be like. we shall see.

i watched death note! and L is so cute!! guess i really like weird geniuses! :) i like the show so much that i even wrote an (graded) assignment about it. haha!

mjc alumni band concert next year.. don't know if i have the time for the concert, but promised the juniors to go whenever im free. wonder if i can still a play a clarinet? if my embhochure is still accurate?..

arh. shujuan! mug mug mugggg!! =/

one word to describe my current situation --> busy

well.. busy such that i dont know what im busy about?

im blind busy.. my life is now dictated by projects, reports and assignments. other than that, its the daily mad frenzy to reach home by 7 to catch princess hours (cant ch U change the timing to 9 or have repeat telecast? urgh) im seriously hooked on princess hours. the guys are soo kawaii! super duper mesmerised.. like any other regular k-drama fan, i melt at how the guys gazed at the female lead. how they do dumb things to not make the female lead think they like her. yeah, that kind of childish thing. haha.. but i like! haha. i guess all females like such plots. not just me right.. hoho..

and tell me the exams are not coming.. haha.. another round of self denial.

i want to watch death note! urgh!! the world world watched it without me me me!! so sad k. dont care, am watching it. hurmph. :) i want to see L! the habitual sweet tooth! the weirdo! haha.. freaking cute! :D

updates..

our thailand trip is (kinda) finalised (?)... huiting is seeing to it. air tix - checked. hotel - unchecked. hope we wont have to sleep on the streets? haha.. wun be so bad la.. right?! i read the latest seventeen mag (yes i read seventeen.. dont doubt!) and they were talking about budget trips to nearby countries. sounds.. pretty exciting! but ha. got to save up can.. im going broke. for shopping.. yes i will save! *hopeful look.

exams coming soon! this sem is super fast can.. hope to go through this unscathed. *another hopeful look.

alright. pretty boring life.. dont complain. at least i have an entry to entertain you.. :)
random..

took these on a random saturday/sunday morning.. gosh. bet u guys dont know about this.. this is the legendary.. Blue's Clues! haha.. kinda dumb to watch it now.. and u pity the guy (on the left) for having to act dumb. nonetheless, the blue dog called Blue (i think.. or is it Spot?) is entertaining.. people got girlfriend can! hilarious.

solve this mystery: what's missing in this bag? no prize for guessing.. it's the WALLET! can you imagine a grown-up forgetting to bring wallet for SHOPPING?! tsk tsk mingshu.. you win hands down for being a scatter brain! :D

i long wanted to put this pic liao... couldnt find the right topic. so i give up.. just dump it here. haha.. for those familiar with the "Survivor Law"... this is the Mr Nice Guy!! :) super sweet la. imagine a guy knitting can.. aww.

ok.. this is really for entertainment.. :)

quick bites..

recall those science tutorials where u learnt this term "hydrophobic".. which is the "fear of water". but there are many other terms attributing to the fear of "something".

i chanced upon this restaurant in bugis and they placed interesting stuffs on their tables. like personality tests, facts, etc. the table where i had my dinner was talking about.. as u've guessed it, uncommon terms (alright at least to me) used to describe phobia. to make it more exciting, let's have a mcq quiz:

1. coulrophobia is the fear of...
(a) cauliflower
(b) clowns
(c) cameras
(d) cats

2. triskaidekaphobia is the fear of...
(a) triangle
(b) the pyramid
(c) the number 3
(d) the number 13

3. atelophobia is the fear of...
(a) imperfection
(b) antelopes
(c) criticisms
(d) telephones

4. mnemophobia is the fear of...
(a) men
(b) writing memos
(c) memories
(d) the moon

5. sesquipedalophobia is the fear of...
(a) running out of time
(b) long words
(c) sequence
(d) going against the norm

...

have you jot down what you think is right?

u sure?

really sure?

.
.
.
.

alright i know u cant wait to scroll the end to get the answers. impatient you! :)

and the answers are:

1. coulrophobia is the fear of (b) clowns. [see, so clowns may not be hilarious to all..]

2. triskaidekaphobia is the fear of (d) the number 13. [which i dun understand why! so they shun wearing stuff with 13? dun make friends whose bday falls on the 13th? dun go out on the 13th?.. what's wrong with 13. =/ ]

3. atelophobia is the fear of (a) imperfection. [well, i think i have slight inclination towards this.]

4. mnemophobia is the fear of (c) memories. [which is so sad, i think.. what is life without memories? i cant imagine myself keeping away memories because i fear them.. gosh. memories, good or bad.. still good to reminiscence anyway.. but im not talking about those who had violent trauma in the past.. that i can understand.]

5. sesquipedalophobia is the fear of (b) long words. [how apt. this term is scary! lol..]

mini tk gathering on sunday

yes... and thank me.. i was the organiser again! i dislike all these mass sms-ing people abt some activities and collate info.. and mass send sms again to confirm time venue and whatnot. basically i dun like organising stuff cuz im not at all organised in the first place. so dear ivy, thank me for being so angelic! :)

the gals met at the manhattan market place (supposedly the close version of fish and co.) at plaza sing. perhaps it's the innate nature within tk girls.. we digressed so often that the waitress had to come the 3rd (or was it the 4th time?) time before she could take our orders.

the 6 of us crapped, gossiped, joked, chatted, ... felt like the good old days really. note the fact ivy didnt meet up with the others since the release of 'o' level results alright. so many years already, but still felt so similar.. the laughters and the oblivion to how others gape at our silly actions say it all :)

and the pics we took.. a whole lot! :)

the 6 of us!! gosh ivy approached a real kind soul to help us take this pic. painstaking process cuz it took the 4th/5th time before the technical glitches were overcame and capture this real nice pic of us all! :)

the 6 of us again! tried to find somewhere ulu for us to take pics (this time with self-timer).. to our horror the first spot we picked was manifested with hungry ants! so we kinda changed the spot again and again till we found the most "ideal" spot, i.e. less hungry ants. nonetheless the ants adored ivy so much and kept biting her! poor girl.

...

anyway i went to stayover in weiee's room after the gathering! :) cool i tell u! super homely!! gonna abuse her room more often.. lol..

that's the both of us! and weiee was complaining to me about how mediocre hairstylist has ruined her fringe..

gah! i cant seem to upload the other pics.. alright people dun miss the sequel.. will try to post more pics then.

and so..

i didnt expect the somewhat "overwhelming" response from my first night out clubbing. beside the tags, friends were msn-ing me abt.. well typical questions:

"shujuan! u went clubbing arh!! wah! finally..."

"aiyo.. shujuan! i heard u duno how to dance arh! *sniggers*"

"shujuan! goodness ur alcohol tolerance level so low? lousy leh!" etc.. etc.. ultimately revolving me, the country bumpkin, going clubbing.

and so, i shall entertain you guys with my post-syndromes of "under-prepared clubbing"

...

if u have read my prev entry (on clubbing) all the way to the bottom, you would have noticed this postnote: "freak. just discovered that i developed rashes! how nice.. grr." yup, i woke up 8am the next day and found these tiny bumps spreading all over my body.. especially the torso area.

at first i didnt notice, cuz it wasnt itchy whatsoever. then i discovered the red patches on my arms.. and later, my mum gasped in horror when she saw my neck all red with those tiny goosebumps like thingy. so i didnt take too long to realise.. ive developed rashes (whatever the medical term).

obviously, my parents went smth like, "see la! drink so much. see la!" and start making me drink some liang cha to "retreat" the heat/alcoholic toxins in my body. gah. i wasnt really bothered by the red patches initially. but not for long..

the red patches didnt go away that sunday. worse, it became insanely itchy. i have to apply talcum powder to help soothe the itch.. but not working. and great. ive got lessons on monday.

so i went to school on monday with a sweater although the weather wasnt fantastically cold. well, on my way to school that morning (i was on the train then).. there were no seats and i was feeling sick. like im going to concuss anytime. in my mind there were furious conflicting thoughts:

"sheesh, im not going to make it to school.. daddy fetch me home!!"

"hello? u are already here (somewhere in bugis).. dun make a wasted trip! besides, u got tutorial to attend and assignment to hand up ya.."

so.. i alighted at city hall station, grabbed the available bench in front of me and took a breather. it worked! felt better and off i went to school again..

that night the itch and redness remained. my dad got worried (perhaps he hasnt seen a worse drinker than me in his life) and summon me to the doctor. gahhhh.. and starring *the comical doctor!*

"so shujuan, what's wrong with you? hmm, u havent been here (the doc's) for about a year!"

"erh.. i wouldnt want to frequent here, doctor. yup anyway, i developed some red bumps all over my body."

"red bumps?! they look more like red patches to me..."

"she went drinking," my mum snapped in.

"aiyo.. went drinking arh.. no wonder la.. so shujuan, u are allergic to alcohol u know..." the doctor went on explaining deeper about this... mentioning some lucky people have it but it will be gone in a day or two.

"and so," i said, "i happen to be the suay lot right..." -__-

...

the doc asked me what i drank in one part of the consultation. i said, "vodka and rum" nonchalantly. the doc gasped in horror (adults...) and said, " what?! vodka??! it's very strong eh! and you are still so young!... bad for liver... yada yada.." doc also mentioned, "good la, now that u know u are allergic to alcohol.. u wun drink in the future." (i sniggered)

it's rather amusing to see a doc lecturing a patient as if she's 12. anyway i left the clinic with a MC (doc insisted to give me one.. i wonder why) and 2 packets of medicine. 20 bucks. arh. clubbing is an experience.. an expensively itchy one to be exact. lol.

(and sorry, i cant charm guys for free drinks.. sigh.)

movies..

watched 2 significantly different genres (whatever u call it) of movies during the recess week.

first up: The Haunted Apartments

this movie is.. erm. interesting. most of the time i was scaring myself more than what the movie can really scare.

in brief, something like this: father and daughter moved into the "haunted apartment".. the residents of that block of apartments have to abide to the midnight curfew. if not, they'd be mysteriously killed by the girl, Ai. so the daughter who just moved in was finding ways to break this curse..

well.. i thot the highlights of the show are: (1) this cute guy (who died in the end.. well middle actually) (2) the unforgettable scene of the little girl with eyes (without pupils) and mouth foaming/salivating (its on the top left hand corner of the poster, if u want to see).. ranting, "do not mention Ai within the apartments!" (yes, besides the spirit, the little girl was named Ai too)

some parts of the story were crazy (like there's this couple slitting their wrists and sucking each other's blood for food. im like, "what?!"..) the ending was really weird too. so i went out of the theatre with a big "huh?!"... basically the show was sub-standard. or perhaps the atmosphere in the theatre was too light-hearted. there were bursts of laughter throughout the whole movie. well, guess these people thought it was a comedy more than a horror flick.

movie 2: Rob-B-Hood

i laughed from the start to (nearly) the end of the show! matthew (the baby) is freakinggg cute! enough said. i shan't divulge too much.. so get ur tix! watch the movie! :)

anyway.. i want to watch Death Note!!! cool! arh! and the guys are soooo shuai! mesmerised. *_*

my first (clubbing) night out!

30 sept: after much procrastination, 3 brave souls decided to club and quit being labelled "suaku". mingshu managed to find a clubber friend and so, off we went to butter factory.

the 3 of us met up first and took a cab there. lol.. then mingshu went on about why we didnt do research and whatnot... about our first time clubbing and all. she went on about ordering drinks. tsk. and i only know, for nuts, something called "screwdriver" (thanks poh). so mingshu went on, "ya, and so what's the content for screwdriver?"

of course i wun have a single clue!!

soonafter we reached the destination, i was the last to leave the cab since i was paying. and the amused taxi driver told me,"erm... screwdriver has vodka and orange."

i answered, "orh", awkwardly. crap! he was listening soo attentively to our conversations! grr.

we were early so there wasnt a queue. cover charge of $20. a watermark stamp on ur wrist. coupons for 2 drinks. yes, off you go to be a clubber. i went in, amazed by the first interior setting i saw. whimsically decorated with lots of cute motifs... comparable to the motifs you find on "new world order" tee designs.

then the real thing - the "clubbing area".

butter factory is rather small-scale (as compared to what i saw on magazines and all). we went in, duno what to do. there wasnt much of a crowd then. so we had small talks by shouting to each other (the music is freaking loud, duh) to "integrate" ourselves as part of the clubbers.

order drinks time! the clubber friend started off with vodka lime. nt bad. then mingshu, bee ordered vodka with cranberry/raspberry/.. whatever.. not too bad either. i ordered none other than... screwdriver! haha. nice drink! :)

clubbing is an intoxifying experience. the lights, the alcohol, the (freaking slow) music, the smoke that lingers... people just get high and dance. i quite enjoyed myself with all these stimuli... trying to groove to the (freaking slow) music... but gah, the girls complaint that i DIDNT dance. like hello, its not that i didnt dance, i cant dance. ask me do the alluring sways.. next time perhaps.

then then then... when the mood was right, the freaking LIGHTS (yes, as in lights, not those dancing lights) were switched on. freak? police raid, they told me. we got to get out of butter factory while they do a traffic count. because of this dumb raid, we got to finish up the 2 jugs of rum coke at one go alright. so that the drinks were not gone to waste. yes, i became seriously intoxificated - by alcohol. felt really bad if i stand up. so i care less and sat down. i duno if this is a sign of going to be drunk. but doesnt feel good.. we were considered really suay to meet with this kind of police raid. that clubber friend went on complaining, "this is the first time i meet with police raid leh!".. dampened mood. we went somewhere nearby for supper.

the clubber's boyfriend drove us to this prata shop for supper. aww. prata ok? but! i dun have the appetite at all. just wanted a drink. but since im in a prata shop.. temptation sets in and i ordered mushroom and cheese prata. other days i'd have finish it clean. that night, i forced down my throat a quarter of the prata and gave the rest to bee. grr. prata prata! i miss prata!

...

and so.. do i have the potential to be a clubber? firstly, lets just have a checklist:

1. dressing --> fail. think my clubbing gear was crap compared to other clubbers. and my makeup was horrid too.
2. drinker --> fail/pass. as you can see, i nearly got drunk.. by innocent rum and vodka. but i thot it wasnt that bad cuz i did manage to clean off my makeup before plonking myself into bed. and i woke up at 8 plus in the morning the next day without hangovers!
3. dancer --> fail. big cross! haha. yes i know nuts about dancing.

and i kinda figured out why some people are so attached to clubbing. ultimately revolves around "socialising".
clubbers get close to each other, make quick friends... the lights are freaking dim, alcohol makes you high... so who cares anyway?

well clubbing was really an experience.. time for me to train my drinking, so that i wont make myself look silly for future functions.

[postnote: freak. just discovered that i developed rashes! how nice.. grr.]

arh wonderful recess week. :)

cant really be bothered with school stuff. getting to be a realll grouchy couchy potato.. so much so that it becomes a real chore to get out of house. gawd. must be the post symptoms of "going-out-everyday-till-late".. gah.

backtrack..

last fri was beautiful. all the late night meetings and mad rush for proj were not wasted. our proposal was accepted! really!! my tutor seemed to be rather pleased... commented, "definitely has the potential to be a FYP".. elated. :)

sat: was out with my dear s310 gang! haha. yes now i finally know what legendary "bedok 85" is.. but but but! that was not the highlight of the night.. we (as usual) took loads of weird pics and videos.. really astonishing for adults-to-be to be behaving like kids. but.. who cares anyway!? lol.. fun! love all these funny outings :)

then i went for qb chalet.. well met quite a number of people.. not too bad.. stayed over too. i played cards with them till 5+ am alright.. still very hyped up. amazed by myself too. (but the next day was totally in concussion mode. lousy! haha..)

my little trademark angel! :) lol.. was entertaining myself in the chalet while the rest played mahjong.

yes you are right, i was really bored. lol.. self-entertainment ya. tsk..

alright.. then i am a couchy potato.. roar. time to get into the play mode girl! ;)

: p a r a d o x :

shujuan likes to procrastinate.
shujuan hates the end-product of procrastination.
so why do i procrastinate?

...

people please pardon my random-ness. by-product of procrastination --> tired and zombified.
sigh. i really wonder which sensory neurone in my brain is damaged. why cant i be anxious of doing reports wayyy before the deadline?! what's wrong with me!!?

anyway, the horrifying report is over and done with. dramatic experience of less than 30 mins left to print out my report when the free access lab is packed. and so? instead of the usual 5 cents per page.. i chose the abandoned "60 cents per page" printer.. yes colour printer. grand total of $6.60.. but guess i ought to be taught a lesson..

getting it printed is one thing.. being paranoid is another. obviously this report is going to be screwed. and my tutor forewarned us that it's definitely POSSIBLE to FAIL this paper. 15% of the final score. great.

urgh.

someone pls fine-tune my sensory neurone..

***

tyng feng's birthday on the 9th this month. couldnt celebrate his bday cuz i was in the mad frenzy to do the dumb report. so i msged him.. and this chap is interesting. instead of showing gratification that "oh my gosh, shujuan actually remembers my birthday!"... he retorted and said the sms was insincere! haha.. well.. very interesting.. so is my hypothesis correct by saying:

"the older you grow, the weirder you get"?

19! my favourite age :)

...

sudden urge to blog.

school is getting really horrible.. and im trying to get the hang of proj deadlines and all.. sigh. crap can. -__-;;

and! i fell!! as in FELL! injustice alright. i was walking normally and out of a sudden, i just lost my balance and fell!? i was like.. bewildered? indignified?..

.
.
.

then i thought. perhaps i was stoning too much. and didnt watch my steps. so i have to be punished with a grazed kneecap and a cui-ed toenail. ouch. and yes, being watched like a clown. crap.

~+~

somebody sent me this ad.

when i first look at it, i was like.. "is this some kind of boo!-something-is-going-to-pop-up-and-scare-you-if-you-stare-for-ten-seconds email?" (because this person kinda contemplated to send me some gross bloody horrific pics..)

it's innocently blue, just a few liners.. that's all.. but am i really sure?

then it took me a while to realise.. this condom company is brilliant.

updates updates...

last saturday:
was out doing proj with new friends.. hope everything works out just fine.
then met up with the qbs for kelvin and ck's surprise party at fish n co. not very surprising cuz the duo kinda know abt it. bah. so much for creating the deep suspense.

we went to the glass house. my first time there. ambience was good. with the live performance and all. but.. the service was appalling. it took an hour or more for our food to be served. i waited for the platter till i got bored and stoned. they dun top up plain water for us. gah. plus! there was a blackout!! really -__-;; ..

.. i didnt on the night mode. bah.

then the cake.. the usual sing-along.. and the group proceeded to plaza sing gv. we were watching.. my super ex-girlfriend! ultimately lame. but entertaining.. :)

got bored while waiting.. time for pics!

the super tall birthday boy. bah.

the way home i received a message from bee regarding the mars so close tt it'd appear as a "2nd moon".. i knew nuts abt this can. and felt so swakoo when all the rest kinda know abt it? lol the cab driver even wanted to drive us to somewhere for "mars-gazing"?! anyway it was ard 1 plus in the morning already. so no mars to see.

~+~

lol.. today manage to see a few of my prev sem tutorial mates.. daoxing david caoying! haha.. daoxing was like, "shujuan.. ni bian le..." and caoying went "wah, shujuan.. prettier le ar!" :)

thank goodness ive "changed" for the better? or just that being a hostelite then.. i just couldnt be bothered?

but anyway.. super shuang to be complimented :)
